Tile Printmaking

FAQs
-
We use an assortment of flat Lego tiles in our ‘print-your-own-design’ workshops. The smallest tiles (1×1 square tiles and circles) can be challenging for very young artists to work with independently unless they have well-developed fine motor skills. But it can still be a lot of fun for them if they have a bit of help or add on to existing design plates.
We’ve hosted workshops with school age children (pre K-8th grade). We recommend 1st grade and higher for our ‘design-your-own-design’ workshops.
-
For our ‘design-your-own’ workshops we use non-toxic washable ink stamp pads.
-
Most arts and crafts projects will get a bit messy, but we do our best to supervise the printing station and keep the washable inks on the legos and paper where they belong (not on hands and faces and clothes).
We also bring baby wipes and a mobile hand washing station (soap, water and paper towels) with us.
We don’t want ink going everywhere either!
-
We use a Provisional Press. This versatile tabletop press has an 11×17 inch print bed and can be used to print items set to galley height.

It can vary depending on the size of your group, the age of the participants and how fast they create new designs. We recommend 90 minutes as a good starting point for a small-medium sized group (15 people or less). We want your guests to have a relaxed and fun time so suggest allowing 1 minute per person per print on the press after they finish their creating their designs.
-
Yes, depending on the site we may be able to host a private workshop outside. It’s best to have a covered area for the printing station and dedicated tables and chairs where the artists can sit and do their design work. We’d be happy to discuss your idea.

In order to secure your preferred time and date you’ll need to book your private workshop with us as soon as you have a set date in mind — ideally 4 or more weeks in advance. We are unable to book new workshops with less than 3 weeks notice.
